Dollars Raised in Durham Region
Raised in Durham

September 1999
AIDS Walk Durham, Oshawa
$450

In its first community service effort, members and friends of the newly-formed Temple raised $450 for AIDS research.

April 2000
Ganaraska River Clean-Up, Port Hope

Temple members and friends celebrated Earth Day 2000 with a clean-up of the Ganaraska River. A dozen trashbags were filled, items such as mattresses and shopping carts were pulled from the river. The Ganaraska River is a major salmon run during their spawning season.

August 12, 2000
Bethesda House Shelter For Battered Women, Bowmanville
$420

Over two dozen Temple members and friends participated in a barbecue to benefit the Bethesda House shelter. Between bouts of throwing ice at one another, blowing bubbles, and teasing passers-by, we managed to broil enough hot dogs and sausages to raise $420 for the women's shelter.

September 24, 2000
AIDS Walk Durham, Oshawa
$1,077

Marching with members of the Durham Pagan Pub Moot under a banner reading "Pagans For A Cure," Temple members and friends raised just over $1,000 for AIDS research. The Temple placed third among community groups raising funds during the Walk.
